About Us

Limina is a new social enterprise whose aim is to support a growing network of organisations and individuals working to build sustainable communities by providing access to rural spaces, learning journeys, events and workshops in the city.

Liminal (from the Latin word līmen, meaning “a threshold”) The liminal state is characterised by openness and opportunity. Liminality is a period of transition where normal limits to thought, self-understanding, and behavior are relaxed – a situation which can lead to new perspectives.

Limina is a group of individuals who share a passion for connecting the rural wild with urban culture. Between us we have a number of special venues – including a barge in central London and several amazing places in wild and rural Britain. We came together in 2009, hosted a launch event in Regents Park, and are planning an exciting series of future works, including events, consultancy, published learning manuals, public ceremony and workshops.

We are in the process of exploring and co-creating what we are as an entity and the full scope of all we have to offer. Please watch this space and by all means join in.

We collectively bring together professional experience of media, film & design, events organising, sustainability consultancy, wilderness guiding, grassroots action, growing & cultivation, social networking, hosting, community-making and education.
